I create your portrait based directly on the photos you send me. The clearer and more detailed your reference image is the better the final portrait will turn out! Let's take a look at what makes a photo tricky, and what helps me bring out all those little details!

Lighting
The lighting in this photo is uneven, with one side of the face in shadow. We lose details like the curl pattern and fur markings on the left, so it's not ideal even though the image is clear.

Angles
Photos taken from above (or below) can make features like the nose look larger and distort proportions. Additionally, part of the image is cropped out and we can't see the full curl pattern. Try taking your photo at eye level while your pet is sitting and that their full face is in the image.

A good reference example
This last photo is a great reference:
- Bright, even lighting
- Eye-level angle
- Full face in view
- Clear, close-up, high-quality image
A few more helpful tips...
- Is your pet regularly groomed? Share photos that reflect their usual look
- Don’t forget about the ears, are they normally down or up?
- Does your pet make a unique facial expression?
You might not have the perfect photo and that’s totally fine! A few good ones, plus your input, help me bring it all together.
